Lee Scratch Perry is a great example of this.
He went from poverty and obscurity, born in Hanover Jamaica, a poor rural village, not far from Negril and Green Island to a revolutionary producer who transformed modern music and culture.
He produced guided Bob Marley's formative music and persona, just before Bob took over the world musically.
Lee produced many other artists and was one of the inventors of Reggae and Dub, which influenced Hip Hop, Dubstep and Drum and Bass among other genres.

He was also a renowned singer, chanter, and performance artist in his own right with years of touring and albums under his belt.

Learn from his life. You can overcome by faith in the Almighty, knowing yourself and perseverance.

Jah's Message To The Black Youth.

At this time in history the RasTafari movement is shaking off its slumber and stagnation and rising with righteous practical actions.
There can be no real progress towards our goal of an uplifted, free and prosperous African race, without addressing and solving the crisis of gangsterism and senseless killing in the black community generally.

We cannot uplift the community when our youth are doing Babylon's job for them by murdering each other daily.

Here is an excerpt from a speech by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie the First, Jah RasTafari on being a soldier and the responsible use of firearms.

" To discharge this duty, you must at all times maintain yourselves at the peak of mental and physical standard. You must be loyal, of high moral character and cultivate the habit of eternal vigilance. You must be courageous in the face of danger and tireless on the field of battle. You must inspire confidence in those you lead and show them, by your example, that the defence of their Motherland is paramount and must be placed above all else.
But another, equally important, responsibility will be yours in the years to come. For, although you have been trained for warfare and battle, you must strive, by all honourable means at your disposal, to assure that these circumstances which will call into action the very skills and techniques in which you have been trained never come into existence. Educated for war, you must strive to preserve peace. Warfare never had made and can never make an affirmative contribution to the welfare of mankind; good cannot grow out of evil. "

He also urged the youth to learn to settle disputes by peaceful means like good faith negotiations.

THE POWER OF ZEN.

In the 5th or 6th century an Indian Buddhist Monk named Bodhidharma traveled to China and began spreading the teachings.
He shocked the local ruler with his paradoxical answers about knowing nothing and then went off to an isolated area to meditate for 9 years in front of a blank wall.
After that he helped so many people realize enlightenment that a school and movement grew up around him. It became the Shaolin Monk brotherhood.
He also taught them martial arts as self defense, which is where Kung Fu derived from.
What he taught was just sitting and breathing fully; a form of contemplation called Chan and then Zen once it mixed with Taoism and spread to Japan.
The Basics of Zazen.
Just sit comfortably in a quiet location.
The Lotus position which is seated with legs crossed, with your feet pushed to various degrees into the lap of the opposite leg, is good if you can do it.
Another is just normal chair seating and a third is seated with your knees up and arms wrapped around your knees and hands clasped together. Lying down is another, but should only be used if you have had a full sleep or if you are suffering from insomnia.
Keep a good straight posture remembering to keep the chin tucked in.

Slow deep breathing from and to the abdomen, through the nose, is the bread and butter of meditation, the subtraction and addition, the dynamic balance between in and out.
Most of us have heard that when we get upset we should take a deep breath and count to ten. That is great advice. We can apply that to breathing out and then breathing in. Internally counting to ten while breathing out and another ten for breathing in. This process can then be done ten times.
I suggest this be done upon waking and before going to sleep.

He was advised to go into exile and did so, but never gave up total Faith in the Almighty within Himself, that Good would conquer and He would return to Ethiopia as the victor.

In that same spirit we must stay prayed up, get close to Jah and trust H.I.M. fully regardless of the external appearances.
I man is going through a crisis I self right now.

Breathing Practice.
Here at Lion Power Healthy Living we want you to have optimal Spirit, Mind and Body health.
That means daily meditation.
Many are mystified by meditation. They ask what is it and how can they learn.
It is many things and there are many different ways to do it but to simplify think of it as daily Breathing Practice.

You should start with an out breath of 10 seconds and then an in breath of 10 seconds.
Your in breath should be directed to your abdomen not your chest.
Remember to tuck your chin in.
Do it for as long as is practical and go back to it any time you feel stressed during the day.

Spiritual practices and rituals are the key to maintaining that positive charge.

Stop Pre-diabetes Before it Becomes Diabetes.
You have to stop eating a high carb diet, so drastically cut down on the breads and pastas and fruits like grapes, bananas, apples, pineapples, mangoes and figs.
The next power move is intermittent fasting.
On some days, choose to not eat until you are really hungry.
Give your digestive system a vacation for a good 4 to 6 hours from when you normally would have a meal.

Do not "kill" yourself by overdoing these moves but do what you can before Diabetes tries to kill you.
Remember most pre-diabetics do not even know they are on the brink until they are full blown diabetics.
